THE BUSINESS CHALLENGE
Blue Ridge School District needed to upgrade an aging network infrastructure, including the fiber optic cable plant and obsolete HP equipment.
THE NORTHEAST DATA SOLUTION
Northeast Data proposed a complete upgrade, including new 10 Gigabit capable OM4 fiber-optic cable to act as the new network infrastructure backbone. Extreme Networks B-Series switches were used at the access layer and C-Series switches replaced the aging HP equipment at the network core. The customer also wanted to have greater visibility into their network, so Extreme Networks NetSight Management Software was included in the design and delivered as a virtual appliance, leveraging the customer’s already purchased virtual server farm and adding some really great cost savings to the solution.
THE RESULTS
Blue Ridge School District’s data network is not only performing better, but the customer is also enjoying the benefits of greater visibility and granular control over the network offered by Extreme Networks NetSight Management Software. This robust data network was able to scale easily when network video and IP Telephony were introduced about a year later, with almost zero additional latency added to mission critical application access. The I.T. Administrator has much more time available to tend to other tasks and spend less time managing the data network.
